Raptors Release Pops

The Return of Pops Mensah-Bonsu is short lived. The Raptors have announced today that they have released Pops.He played in just 16 games in his Raptor return and averaged just over 2 points. The Raptors had to make a choice on pops soon as they would have had to guarantee his contract for the entire season. The former George Washington player has never been able to stick in the NBA with 2 stops with the Raptors and a couple in the lone star start with San Antonio and Houston. Pops made a name for himself in the D-League but has never been able to translate it on the NBA level.

Pops is a great guy and having been in the Raptor locker room a few times he was always one of the guys that would be part of the fun in the locker room. Unfortunately things don't seem to have worked out for him and that is unfortunate. This will free up a roster spot for the Raptors but does not necessarily suggest another move is coming. However now should the Raptors want to have a look at someone there is a spot open they could do so in terms of calling up a player from the D-League on a 10 day contract.
